Michael Smith, Deputy Director of Interactive Services, COI
Michael first started working within the digital industry for publisher Emap back in 1996. Having seen the meteoric growth of the bubble and subsequent deflation, Michael witnessed many of the highs and lows of the emerging medium.  He moved from magazine publishing into national press and headed up the commercial fortunes of the Independents digital portfolio before joining COI back in 2002. Over the last 7 years Michael has witnessed the huge growth in confidence around the use of digital to engage with UK citizens and has been instrumental in helping government embrace the medium. As deputy director of the digital business within COI, Michael is fortunate to be surrounded by a hugely talented pool of digital experts who help maintain COI as digital thought leaders across the public sector.
